Job OverviewThe Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at NC State University invites applications for potential short‑term teaching positions in Religious Studies during the 2025‑26 academic year. These positions may involve teaching one or more courses for a single semester or the full academic year, depending on departmental needs.
ResponsibilitiesTeach courses in Religious Studies, including, but not limited to:
- Religious Traditions of the World
- Asian Religions
- Introduction to the Old Testament
- Introduction to the New Testament
- The Hindu Tradition
- The Buddhist Traditions
- Islam
Perform any other duties assigned by the department head.
Minimum Education and ExperienceLecturer: Master’s Degree in Religious Studies or related field, or equivalent professional experience. If teaching graduate level courses, Doctor’s Degree or equivalent required.
Assistant Teaching Professor: Doctor’s Degree in Religious Studies or related field, or equivalent professional experience. Must be able to direct activities and participate in departmental activities.
OtherRequired Qualifications
- Strong commitment to excellence in teaching
- Excellent communication skills
- Ph.D. strongly preferred
