Adjunct Instructor, Associate in Engineering
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part‑time faculty to teach Associate in Engineering classes. Openings may or may not be available at this time but are open to qualified candidates to be contacted in the future.
Responsibilities- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
- Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
- Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
- Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
- Utilizes classroom materials that support the goals of the course.
- Follows the designed curriculum schedule of instruction.
- Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
- Maintains communication with program director.
- Remains up‑to‑date on technology and methods of teaching with technology.
- Attends professional development opportunities when possible.
Skills and Abilities
- Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning; be innovative, creative, and motivated.
- Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others.
- Able to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently.
- Good organizational skills.
- Knowledge of technology and software including computers and web‑based resources such as Blackboard.
- Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential.
- Computer skills using basic functions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Master's degree in Engineering or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering.
- Unofficial transcripts must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application.
- Teaching experience.
- Five years of practical or industry experience in an engineering field with some CAD experience.
