Adjunct Instructor, Sonography — Wake Technical Community College

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for the Sonography curriculum and for providing didactic and/or clinical instruction as assigned by the program director.

• Maintains accurate course documentation and scholastic records of students enrolled in classes and submits required reports to the Program Director and to the registrar
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
• Selects learning experiences that facilitate the student attainment of course student learning outcomes
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
• Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
• Organizes and maintains laboratory including physical facilities, equipment, and materials in a clean, neat, operating condition, when applicable
• Maintains current certifications/license/credentials to practice in their profession
• Utilizes a variety of instructional evaluation methods considering learning styles and teaching/learning theory
• Supervises and evaluates student clinical/lab performance
• Maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures and student progress
• Maintains confidentiality of student records and grades

• Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
• Good organizational skills
• Innovative, creative, motivated and work well with others
• Able to maintain records accurately and able to meet deadlines consistently
• Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

• Associate’s degree
• Appropriate credential(s) specific to the concentrations offered
• Two years full-time professional experience as a general sonographer (AB, OB/GYN)
• Must be credentialed in Sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

• Bachelor’s degree
• Five years of experience as a Sonography technologist
