OverviewUNC Rex Hospital is seeking a Part‑Time Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to join its inpatient consult team. The service runs a busy and growing consult service at UNC Rex Healthcare, a 500‑bed private, not‑for‑profit member of the UNC Health system. Physicians work 8‑hour shifts, Monday‑Friday, providing emergency and consult‑liaison psychiatry services for emergency department (ED) and admitted patients.
Responsibilities- Provide 8‑hour inpatient psychiatric care for patients in the ED, floors, ICUs, and the behavioral health observation unit.
- Consult and liaison with key provider groups (ED, hospitalist, intensivist, subspecialty services, and others).
- Collaborate with case management and behavioral health staff for inpatient referrals, after‑care planning, patient/family education, and policy development.
- Maintain patient records in Epic EMR and comply with all institutional documentation standards.
- MD/DO graduate from an accredited medical school.
- Board‑certified in Psychiatry.
- Experience in consult‑liaison psychiatry preferred.
- DEA license and NC medical license required.
- Strong communication skills in English.
