BE PART OF THE CONNECTION
As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ), you’ll get to the heart of every story by talking to members of your community. MMJs are enterprising storytellers who uncover perspectives that might otherwise go unreported. You’ll own each step of the storytelling process—from pitching to writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing—and collaborate with a team to deliver compelling, timely, and accurate coverage across traditional and digital platforms.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum NewsRequired Qualifications
- Experience:
Television news reporting — 3+ years - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience - Technical
Skills:
Ability to shoot video, understanding of video editing software, and the ability to utilize social media effectively - Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively on camera and through writing and verbal expression - Abilities:
Innate curiosity and a sense of urgency in creating compelling stories; ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds - Travel:
Willingness to travel to discover important stories in your neighborhood and interact with the community - Schedule:
Ability to work under time pressure, work different or longer shifts due to breaking news or severe weather, and work on weekends and holidays - Driver’s license:
Valid driver’s license for authorized driving in the state of residence
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a 24-hour news channel
- Work inside in a climate-controlled environment and outside throughout the year; may be exposed to various weather conditions
