Superintendent - Commercial Construction

A highly respected Raleigh/Durham area commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee ground-up commercial projects from start to finish. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in the field, builds strong relationships with crews and subcontractors, and takes pride in delivering safe, high-quality projects on schedule.

Position Overview

The Superintendent will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring work is completed according to plans, specifications, and company standards. This person will serve as the primary field leader, coordinating daily operations, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety procedures, and ensuring quality craftsmanship throughout every phase of construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site operations on ground-up commercial projects
• Lead and manage field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution
• Maintain project schedules, track progress, and coordinate with the Project Manager to meet milestones
• Monitor safety compliance and promote a culture of zero incidents
• Conduct daily and weekly project meetings to align all parties on schedule and expectations
• Review plans and specifications to anticipate and prevent conflicts in the field
• Ensure work is completed to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and professionalism

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
• Proven success managing ground-up projects
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations
• Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and specifications
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
