WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full‑time Construction Inspector for our Raleigh, NC office. Be involved with our Construction Management team and help deliver projects that meet client objectives.

Your Impact
  • Examine and interpret construction plans, schedules, and quantities.
  • Support senior project inspectors in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, and material sampling and testing.
  • Verify that work is performed safely and in accordance with the project plans and specifications.
  • Perform a wide variety of standardized and non‑standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • 3 years of road and bridge construction inspection and testing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Engineering Interns (EI) may be eligible for this position without experience.
  • Ability to obtain the following certifications within 90 days +/-: NCDOT Concrete Field Technician certification, NCDOT Conventional Density certification, Level II Erosion & Sediment Control/Storm water certification, NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician certification, NCDOT ABC and Borrow Pit Sampling certification.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and compute field data.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • General awareness of construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods, and techniques.
  • General awareness of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self‑leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and technology.
  • Physical ability to perform required activities such as squatting, bending, lifting, climbing, and traversing difficult terrain.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Flexibility to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in a closely related discipline.
