Overview

Summary:

The Director of Membership is responsible for leading membership strategy, growth, and engagement for Leading Age North Carolina. Reporting to the President/CEO, this role oversees all aspects of membership recruitment, onboarding, and retention of provider and business members. The Director builds meaningful relationships with members and partners, develops innovative strategies to increase membership value, and collaborates to align membership goals with advocacy, education, and sponsorship initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and results-driven individual with strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Skills and Competencies
  • Expertise in networking, sales and marketing and targeted outreach
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues, members and prospective members
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and drive creative solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales and Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, business development, or a related field, with a proven track record of raising revenue
  • Develop an annual sponsorship plan in collaboration with the CEO that supports Leading Age NC events while meeting budget targets.
  • Identify and secure new revenue streams, including sponsor ships, partnerships, grants, and other funding opportunities for the Association.
Membership Growth & Retention
  • Develop and implement an annual membership growth and retention plan aligned with the Association’s strategic framework.
  • Lead recruitment efforts across all provider and business membership categories as defined in the bylaws.
  • Oversee membership renewals and dues revenue tracking, ensuring targets are met.
  • Regularly analyze membership trends and provide forecasting and reporting to the team.
Member Engagement & Value Delivery
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison for member services, ensuring a high level of responsiveness and support.
  • Oversee onboarding processes that connect new members with Association resources, education, and networks.
  • Coordinate member feedback mechanisms (surveys, calls, committees) and translate insights
Business Partnerships & Sponsorship Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison to current and prospective business members, collaborating with the President and CEO to recruit and serve business partners.
  • Develop and manage corporate relationships with business members, partners, and sponsors.
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Leading Age NC Business Council.
  • Support business members through networking, event participation, and opportunities to connect with provider members.
  • Collaborate with association staff to integrate member and sponsor needs into events, including the Annual Convention.
Team Leadership & Operations
  • Exercise primary responsibility for administrative functions such as CRM management, dues invoicing, renewals processing, data entry, and reporting.
  • Ensure effective processes, accuracy, and timeliness in all membership operations.
  • Develop dashboards and reports for leadership, staff, and the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate on management of logistics and execution of the exhibit hall and business member activities at the Annual Convention and Exposition.
  • Sell sponsor ships and exhibit booths, invoice sponsors and exhibitors, track revenue, and ensure delivery of sponsorship benefits.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in all member interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.
