the administrative coordinator plays a key role in supporting the equitable housing & community development division (ehcd) as it advances wake county’s housing affordability goals. Reporting to the division director, this position provides essential administrative, project coordination, and program support to help ensure smooth and efficient division operations.
this role is responsible for organizing documents and workflows, supporting contract routing, maintaining accurate and compliant records, and serving as a point of contact for internal and external partners. The administrative coordinator also assists with program monitoring, research, purchasing activities, and customer service needs.
this position is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Additional duties may be assigned to support division and county housing initiatives.

Within the department, the equitable housing & community development (ehcd) division leads efforts to increase and preserve affordable housing through development and revitalization projects. The division administers federal and local funding, coordinates with municipalities and development partners, and supports capital investments in housing, home ownership, and neighborhood improvement.

- associate's degree
- two years of job-related experience
- equivalent education and experience are accepted

- bachelor's degree in community development, public administration, business administration or related field and two years of experience in housing, community development, grant administration or related field
- knowledge of administrative and operational practices related to program coordination, contract administration, and financial or budget monitoring
- knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements related to public sector operations
- ability to coordinate administrative functions, projects, and operational activities across programs or work groups
- ability to review and monitor contracts, transactions, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and regulations
- ability to research, analyze, and compile information to support program reporting, planning, and operational decision-making
- ability to evaluate processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of work group operations
- ability to organize and maintain records, files, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements
- ability to communicate effectively with internal staff, vendors, partners, and community stakeholders to obtain and provide information
- ability to provide guidance, training, and coordination to support staff when appropriate
- skill in prioritizing multiple assignments, managing competing deadlines, and working independently with limited supervision
