Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm based in Raleigh, NC, has been engaged by a well-established commercial construction specialty contractor with decades of market presence and a strong regional footprint. With consistent growth and a solid project backlog, the company is seeking an Assistant Controller to support financial operations and drive process improvement.
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will oversee and manage day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, inventory, accounts receivable, payroll, job costs, and general accounting functions as well as staff.
Responsibilities- Supervise the productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, inventory, accounts receivable, payroll, job costs, and general accounting functions as well as staff
- Provide financial reporting support to Controller and work cross-functionally with other departments across the organization
- Accurately process and/or review invoices selected for payment by verifying transaction information and obtaining appropriate authorization(s)
- Support month end and year end closing procedures
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems, financial performance and reporting
- Provide mentorship and training to accounting team members
- 7+ years working experience in accounting
- 5+ years in a leadership role and strong supervisory skills and personnel management
- Highly motivated, energetic, team player with good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, maintain attention to detail, recognize time constraints and suggest ways to improve processes
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field - accounting preferred
- Construction experience preferred
- Experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate preferred
