Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven non-profit organization while managing essential financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting practices and a commitment to upholding the organization's fiscal integrity.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

- Perform detailed bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.

- Prepare and review monthly financial reports, budgets, and grant-related documents.

- Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and relevant regulatory requirements.

- Coordinate and support annual audits by working closely with external auditors.

- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard organizational assets.

- Manage fiscal grant reporting and maintain supporting documentation for funders and stakeholders.

- Collaborate with program leaders to assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

- Support the preparation of annual tax filings, including Form 990.

- Identify opportunities for financial process improvements and assist in implementing technology solutions. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- At least 7 years of accounting experience, with preference for non-profit accounting expertise.

- Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and familiarity with relevant standards.

- Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in systems like Sage Intacct preferred.

- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to use complex formulas.

- CPA certification is highly desirable.

- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
