We are recruiting a Staff Accountant for a long-standing company in the RTP area. This role will support core accounting operations while contributing to cross-functional projects and business initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience with both routine and more complex accounting matters and is ideal for someone looking to deepen their accounting skills in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close tasks in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Operations, Supply Chain, and FP&A to ensure accurate reporting and understanding of business activities.
  • Support inventory and cost accounting processes, including reconciliation of inventory balances and investigation of variances.
  • Contribute to internal process improvements and assist in documenting policies and procedures for greater efficiency and compliance.
  • Participate in audits by preparing supporting schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Help analyze financial data for trends, anomalies, and potential areas of risk or improvement.
  • Gain exposure to more advanced accounting areas over time, such as revenue recognition, fixed assets, and project accounting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field; CPA or CPA-in-process strongly preferred.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP and accounting fundamentals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.); experience with ERP systems a plus.
