Director of Accounting

Overview

We are recruiting a Director of Accounting for a growing company in the RTP area to lead their accounting operations and help scale the function. This role combines day to day accounting and reporting with the opportunity to refine and shape process, policy, and team development. This is a new role for the organization.

• Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, revenue, inventory, and fixed assets
• Oversee cash flow management and daily treasury activity
• Drive timely, accurate financial close processes and internal reporting cycles
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies, maintaining a strong control environment
• Manage external audits and support regulatory and tax-related requirements
• Develop and refine accounting policies, procedures, and controls for scalability and efficiency
• Hire, develop, and retain high-performing team members, with a focus on coaching and accountability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, legal, and operational leaders to support planning and decision-making
• Play a key role in systems initiatives impacting the accounting team, including systems enhancements or implementations
• Lead technical accounting research and documentation as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required;
  Master's a plus
• CPA is required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years leading teams
• Some public accounting is preferred
• Experience in inventory-based industries is a plus
• Deep knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
• Strong ERP system exposure (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel proficiency
