About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Accounting to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance for a growing organization. This is a hands‑on, transactional role that requires a CPA and offers opportunities for process improvements and automation initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment and balances strategic oversight with day‑to‑day execution.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of general accounting, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, inventory, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.
- Manage daily cash flow, borrowing, and treasury functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closes.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
- Lead the annual external audit process and ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and other departments to support business initiatives.
- Support ERP upgrades or system implementations impacting accounting workflows.
- Conduct technical accounting research and prepare documentation as needed.
- Monitor emerging accounting standards and assess their impact on the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required;
Master’s preferred. - CPA required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3‑5 years in a leadership role.
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal‑control frameworks.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days in‑office in the Raleigh area.
