Fred Smith Company is currently searching for an Accounts Payable Administrator for our Accounting Team. We are a heavy civil contractor working in the commercial site work, public infrastructure, and asphalt markets in North Carolina.

The A/P Administrator will perform duties to support the Company’s Accounting team in cash management. This position reports to the Treasury Accounting Manager while working alongside the project accountants and project team members. This position requires an individual to work well in a team setting as well as demonstrate the ability to work independently. Good judgement and attention to detail are required in all routine duties and any other task assigned.


Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
  • Assist with payment selection and ACH distribution
  • Processing due invoices for payment
  • Assist with daily cash reconciliation
  • Reconciling monthly vendor statements
  • Verifying purchase order pricing, terms of payments, and other charges
  • Routinely route invoices to appropriate users for review and follow-up as needed to ensure timely posting to the accounting system
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting, as needed


Required Skills:

Required Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting/financial background is preferred)
  • Zero (0) – Three (3) years’ work history in an accounting or finance department
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and terminology is preferred
  • Strong computer, communication, and excellent organizational skills
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines
