About the Role: The Project Accountant will oversee financial activities related to assigned projects, ensuring cost control, budget management, and financial reporting align with company and regulatory standards. They will collaborate with project managers, finance teams, and clients to track expenses, process invoices, and maintain financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all project accounting functions, including AP/AR, project budget tracking, cost management, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing for project deliverables.
- Actively participate in team collaboration on project accounting, contributing expertise to ensure accurate financial tracking.
- Review and reconcile project financial reports and assist with audits.
- Provide regular financial reports to the client.
- Review and ensure compliance with relevant accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Advise on accounting-related issues concerning specific project needs.
- Design & implement streamlined accounting processes.
- Perform vast cleanup of business Quick Books to include double expensing, eliminating unused accounts, resetting bank balances and recording of fixed assets.
- Monthly bank reconciliations in Quick Books.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or a similar role.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and project financial management.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification (preferred but not mandatory).
