PostingSummary
Rutgers Correctional Health Care seeks a Part‑Time Licensed Practical Nurse for East Jersey State Prison, located in Rahway, NJ. The primary purpose of the position is to skillfully administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
ResponsibilitiesProvide input to the Registered Nurse and ensure implementation of the plan of care. Key duties include:
- Provides direct patient care within scope of practice.
- Documents all aspects of patient care.
- Informs and instructs patients about their health and plan of care.
- Participates in data collection related to patient status and needs.
- Assists patients or significant others in discharge preparation and health maintenance at home.
- Is knowledgeable and initiates emergency procedures.
- Maintains supplies and equipment.
- Administers medications and parenteral therapy in accordance with established policies.
- Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license and own vehicle or reliable transportation between sites.
- At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.
First responders must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and physically assist in lifting and rotating patients who cannot ambulate (up to 50 pounds). The position requires a full on‑site work arrangement.
