Biochemist - II; Throughput Screening

• Location:
  
  Rahway, NJ (100% onsite, lab-based)
• Duration: 12-month contract (possibility of extension)
• Level 1: $40/hr rate BS +5 yrs OR MS +2 yrs
• Level 2: $44–47/hr rate BS +7 yrs, MS +2 yrs, OR PhD

• Support high-throughput biochemistry workflows focused on protein directed evolution
• Prepare enzymes via
  
  E. coli cell lysis or in vitro transcription/translation (ivTT) systems
• Set up, quench, and process enzymatic reactions for HPLC/UPLC analysis
• Execute 96- and 384-well automated screening assays using Biomek or Tecan platforms
• Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation (HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, spectrophotometry) to monitor substrates and product profiles
• Analyze experimental data, summarize results, and document findings in support of multiple projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional scientists to coordinate workflows and meet project timelines
• Maintain laboratory safety, organization, and proper documentation per SOPs

• Protein science background (handling, characterization, purification)
• High-throughput screening & automation (Biomek or Tecan; comparable platforms considered)
• Analytical techniques: HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, FPLC
• Biochemical/biophysical protein assays (SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis, activity assays)
• Strong organization, attention to detail, teamwork, and documentation skills
• Software: MS Word & Excel
