Virtualization Engineer

Clearance requirement: Must have an active secret clearance

We are seeking a Virtualization Engineer to support a mission-critical government environment in Radford, VA. This role is fully onsite and will work closely with Government engineers to design, deploy, and sustain a highly secure and scalable virtualization and container-based infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

As a Virtualization Engineer, you will play a key role in architecting, automating, and maintaining enterprise virtualization platforms while ensuring compliance with government cybersecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Government engineers to develop and maintain AECC architecture
• Design, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for VMware environments
• Provision and sustain customer enclaves using automation and IaC
• Perform daily administration of VMware products, including patching and upgrades
• Monitor virtualization resource utilization and forecast capacity needs
• Harden VMware platforms in accordance with commercial best practices and government cybersecurity requirements
• Provide on-call support for after-hours production incident triage and resolution

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance

Senior-level experience with VMware technologies, including:

• ESXi
• vSAN
• NSX
• VMware Aria Automation

• Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience
• Proven troubleshooting skills across networking, storage, servers, and applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and the IAVM process
• Hands-on experience with container platforms and orchestration
• Understanding of Kubernetes networking (CNI) and storage (CSI) concepts
• Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes applications using Helm
• Experience maintaining container images in a registry
• Familiarity with Git Ops principles and tools such as Argo CD or Flux
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of hosting platform issues
• Development and maintenance of system and infrastructure documentation (architecture diagrams, network topology, SOPs, configurations)
• Recommendations to improve security, scalability, manageability, and performance across compute, storage, and networking platforms
