Job Description
Adjunct faculty in our department will teach a variety of major and/or non-major courses depending on departmental needs. Examples include Environmental Biology (BIOL 103), Biology for Health Science (BIOL 106/BIOL 106L), Integrative Biology I & II (BIOL 111/BIOL 112), Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II (BIOL 310/BIOL 311), Microbiology (BIOL 334), or a related course in the applicant’s discipline. Successful applicants will teach both the lecture and lab component for their courses, all of which will be offered in-person.
Instructional responsibilities include (but not limited to) preparing and delivering course content, assessing student learning, holding office hours, and contributing to a rigorous learning environment that focuses on student academic success.
The Department of Biology supports and encourages our adjunct faculty to engage in ongoing professional development through their participation in programs, trainings, or seminars offered by Radford's Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning and by other organizations at Radford University. Adjunct faculty are also highly encouraged to participate in departmental, college, and university events.
Required QualificationsAll faculty must have at least a Master’s degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter introducing who you are as an educator, including:
- the courses for which you are most prepared to or are highly interested in teaching from the list provided,
- your approach to teaching majors and non-majors with clear examples as evidence, and
- an explanation for why the Department of Biology at Radford University.
Your cover letter must be single-spaced, 2-pages maximum, no less than 11-point font, 1-inch margins, and use Times New Roman, Aptos, Arial, or Calibri font.
CV and References:
Candidates must also submit their curriculum vitae and the names and contact information for three professional references.
Transcripts:
Applicants must submit an unofficial copy of transcripts of post-secondary course work with the application. If the applicant’s official transcripts are on file in the Office of the Provost, a statement indicating such, must be submitted in lieu of the documents with the application.
