The City of quincy is now hiring a Construction Inspector
CLOSING DATE: Monday, March 16, 2026, at 4:00 pm
SALARY: $75,000 - $80,000 annually DOE/DOQ
BENEFITS: State PERS Retirement Plan, Medical Insurance paid by the employer 100% for employee only, family coverage available employer pays 50% of premium cost, Employer pays 50% Life Insurance premium, Dental and Vision plans available paid by employee only, 12 paid Holidays per year, 18 days of paid Vacation per year and 8 hours of paid Sick Leave per month.
POSITION OVERVIEWPerforms intermediate-level technical field work to ensure quality of work and materials used in a variety of public works infrastructure projects including construction, repair, maintenance, or alteration. Ensures conformance with City standards, contract specifications and safety standards. Maintains records and prepares reports on projects inspected. This position stages inspections at various intervals in the construction process to verify that methods, materials, and completed projects comply with contract specifications, project drawings, and City codes.
The Construction Inspector performs a variety of technical tasks related to assigned areas of responsibility.
The individual occupying this position reports directly to the City Engineer.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS- High School diploma and/or equivalent required.
- 3–5 years of progressive work experience with construction inspection or related public works construction experience interpreting plans, contract specifications, and municipal construction standards; along with inspection of public works construction projects such as roadways, water and sewer lines, new and renovated buildings, utilities, and similar projects.
- Associate’s degree is strongly preferred in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Technology or relevant college coursework in construction inspection, public works infrastructure, concrete, streets, and construction materials. (Education may be considered as a substitution for years of experience.)
- Current and valid Washington State driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check report and drug and alcohol screening.
