Job DescriptionPerforms pipe welding and fitting for stainless steel and carbon steel systems, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with quality standards. Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing process piping and related equipment, as well as performing preventive maintenance throughout the facility to support safe and reliable operations. Pay range is $32-42/hr dependent on experience.
Responsibilities- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on facility systems, including fire suppression, comfort and process HVAC, steam, plumbing, and building and grounds infrastructure, under the supervision of senior staff.
- Respond to on-call requests for plant fire alarms and other facility-related emergencies.
- Conduct inspections and testing of fire suppression systems; document findings and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Interpret work orders, blueprints, and P&IDs to diagnose issues and determine required maintenance or repair actions.
- Assist in repairing steam valves, traps, and components within building heating systems.
- Support snow removal activities, including salting, shoveling, and plowing; maintain availability during all snow events.
- Enter maintenance data and activity details into the computerized work order system.
- Participate in annual plant shutdowns, which may require consecutive workdays and extended hours.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of plant procedures, safety codes, and maintenance standards, and perform all work in compliance with them.
- Prepare and maintain records, logs, and maintenance reports as assigned.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures, predictive maintenance programs, and plant operations; may provide direction to other service technicians or trades.
- Assist in managing tools, equipment, and spare parts necessary for facility maintenance.
- Perform rigging operations to safely move equipment and materials as needed.
- Follow all plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and other safe work practices.
- Contribute to the development and revision of training materials, procedures, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Notify Facilities Maintenance supervision if work activities do not comply with procedures, standards, or safety requirements, or if they present a risk to personnel, equipment, or plant operations.
- Participate in major outages as assigned, maintaining required qualifications and flexibility for shift or extended‑hour work.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support plant operations.
- Perform welding on stainless and carbon steel piping systems under supervision and in accordance with specifications and safety standards.
- Read and interpret work orders, flow sheets, blueprints, vendor specifications, and P&IDs to determine repair and fabrication requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in TIG, MIG, and stick welding techniques.
- Perform welding, brazing, and soldering for the repair, replacement, and installation of stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals.
- Safely and effectively operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Assist with the assembly, installation, and alignment of process equipment and piping systems.
- Conduct equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs to resolve operational issues.
- Support pipe fitting, rigging, and equipment installation activities as needed.
- Perform lubrication and other maintenance tasks on equipment as directed.
- Accurately record work performed and maintenance activities in the work order system.
- Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support plant operations.
- Exposed to all weather conditions.
- Usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and may take place in confined spaces.
- Frequent walking, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 50lbs.
- Climb stairs and ladders to heights of 120 feet.
- Turn valves, move handles, work overhead.
- Support TRT's annual shutdown.
