Job DescriptionNight Shift Position: 10PM – 6AM (OT as needed)

Provides technical support to the creation and delivery of software products. Collaborates with developers in design, development, and usage of software development tools and systems. May lead a team or project in the area of expertise and handles planning, coordination, integration, troubleshooting, and administration of systems used in the Software Development infrastructure to control and release components and related documentation, code, testware, testing activities, change control, and release activities.

Education and Experience Required- Typically a technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 years related experience in Software Development or Support.
- Focused experience in a key area of Software Development support relevant to the job.
- Junior Lab Administrator responsibilities include closures of trouble tickets, learning lab operations and equipment, and performing duties to support lab environments.
- Physical de-racking, moving, and re-racking of network equipment within or between labs.
- Documentation of installs/de-installs/reinstalls; receiving of new inventory; installation of network and/or computer equipment.
- Adding new devices to database systems; building and changing topologies and documenting changes; troubleshooting hardware/software issues on installed equipment.
- Basic UNIX Skills — navigate a UNIX/Linux command-line environment; install operating systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, Rocky Linux).
- Familiarity with shell commands (ls, cd, pwd, cp, mv, rm, mkdir, chmod, chown, grep).
- Basic process management (ps, top), starting/stopping services, understanding exit codes.
- Understanding of file permissions and ownership; ability to view logs and configuration files (cat, less, nano/vi).
- Willing to learn more advanced UNIX concepts over time.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and Networking Concepts — basic IP concepts, subnets, gateways, DNS; common protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSH); perform basic network checks with ping or nslookup; awareness of private vs. public IP addresses.
- Good Troubleshooting Instincts — methodical issue diagnosis, log interpretation, escalation when needed, clear communication, and maintaining calm during incidents.
- Hunger to Learn — eagerness to learn about computers and networks; maintain a safe, clean, and productive lab environment (e.g., cable management, policy compliance).
