Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Architecture, we are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Cloud Architect to join our growing, dynamic healthcare organization. The Cloud Architect will be a strategic thought leader responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud-based solutions at the BMC system-wide level that are performant, secure, compliant, and scalable. This role will focus on improving healthcare delivery by leveraging cutting-edge public and hybrid-cloud technologies, partnering with BMCHS Information Security to ensure data security/privacy, and optimizing platform performance, while adhering to healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and HITRUST.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties
  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure for healthcare applications ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain systems in accordance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST) to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver effective cloud solutions.
  • Oversee and optimize AWS cloud services for cost efficiency and resource management.
  • Architect solutions for healthcare data management, including EHR, PHI, and analytics.
  • Design disaster recovery and backup plans in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and resolve issues proactively.
  • Manage cloud service spend and implement optimization strategies.
  • Stay updated with cloud computing trends and apply innovative solutions to improve healthcare delivery.
Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, with at least 7 years of experience in AWS or multi-cloud architecture, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with cloud data storage, backup, disaster recovery, Dev Ops tools, and healthcare IT systems like Epic.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses, pipelines, and automation tools.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 3+ years healthcare-related AWS solutions experience.

Certificates:

  • Current certification in at least one cloud platform (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Security Specialty).
  • Multi-cloud certifications are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure design using IaC.
  • Experience migrating workloads to AWS and following AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Understanding of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST) and cloud security best practices.
  • Knowledge of healthcare software platforms and cloud-native AI/ML applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
