Job Title: Ophthalmic Clinical Assistant
Location: Quincy, MA with travel required between offices in Norwell, Norwood, and Weymouth
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time
Pay: $20.00 – $27.00 per hour (based on experience)

Position SummaryWe are seeking Ophthalmic Clinical Assistants to join our patient care team. This merged role combines the responsibilities of an Ophthalmic Technician and Ophthalmic Scribe, providing both clinical and documentation support to physicians.
Candidates with experience in either role are encouraged to apply. Whether you’re a strong tech looking to learn scribing or a detail-oriented scribe excited to learn clinical skills, we offer structured on-the-job training to help you grow into the full role.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Greet and prepare patients for exam; obtain ocular/medical history and verify visit reason
- Perform visual acuity checks, pupil assessment, motility testing, refraction (if trained), and intraocular pressure
- Conduct testing including visual fields, A-scan biometry, corneal topography, OCT, pachymetry, specular microscopy, Optos, and tear function testing
- Accurately scribe physician findings, exam notes, diagnoses, treatment plans, and prescriptions in the EMR
- Communicate follow-up instructions and patient education clearly and professionally
- Assist with minor procedures, including retina injections and sterile tray setup
- Support prescription refills, triage tech line, and handle patient and pharmacy calls
- Keep exam rooms stocked, clean, and equipment maintained
- Monitor clinic flow, manage delays, and communicate with patients effectively
- Ensure all equipment is turned off and stored properly at the end of the day

Whether you come from a tech-only or scribe-only background, our team will support your transition with mentorship and structured learning.
Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent required
- COA or COT preferred but not required
- Typing proficiency and familiarity with medical terminology preferred
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Travel required to all four office locations
- Strong interpersonal skills and team mindset
- Monday & Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Wednesday & Thursday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday (occasional): 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
