Location: Quincy, MA - hybrid - 3 days per week in office (need car to get there)

The IT Project Accountant is responsible for controlling, accounting, and reporting on major technology programs with cross-functional Executive Sponsors and Business Partners. This role will own the project budget, forecast, and actuals for technology projects from start to finish while serving as the first point of contact for Executives, Business Leaders, Vendors and Finance.
Essential Functions:- Partner with cross‑functional team to create, monitor, and control the program budget. Establish and execute project governance across the IT, Business Partner, Finance/Accounting, and Leadership teams.
- Prepare monthly reporting for Financial Leadership team(s) including burn rate analysis and PO balances; provide accruals to the accounting team for pending invoices, work in process, contracts, and taxes; track internal labor costs and external vendor cost actuals vs forecast; and assess what accounts are burning at higher than expected, forecast to complete, and contingency funds usage to date.
- Partner with Accounting on proper treatment of capital, implementation of SaaS and expense costs withing the overall project budget.
- Maintain project‑related records, including contracts, change orders, internal labor submissions, external vendor budget reports, invoices, POs and project budget history.
- Review and assess requests to access project funds and seek appropriate approvals.
- Review and assess requests to transfer expenses into and out of other project‑related accounts and seek appropriate approvals.
- Review and assess burn rate for supplier invoices vs POs/SOW and seek appropriate approvals.
- Review and assess burn rate for internal / external time sheets and seek appropriate approvals.
- Review and assess requests to consume contingency funds and seek appropriate approvals.
- Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to the Project Leadership Team.
- Close out project accounts upon project completion.
- Store all financial documentation related to the program, including funding and spending approvals, and meeting minutes from the monthly Project Leadership Team(s).
