Cashman Preload Cryogenics (CPC) is a premier designer and constructor of refrigerated gas storage tanks and facilities. CPC specializes in precast, prestressed concrete technology for these storage tanks. CPC is focused on the North American and Caribbean markets, however, has completed projects across the world. CPC is looking for the right individuals to join a fast-growing company that can help maintain a high level of quality.
Position OverviewThe Field Engineer – QA/QC will work closely with the Engineering Operations Manager, representing the engineering team in the field and ensuring all work is performed per the project documents and standards. The Field Engineer – QA/QC will be a key member of the field team and will be based on-site during construction. The role will start during detailed engineering with a preparation and review of Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs), welding procedures, and establishing the required QC documentation for a job.
The Field Engineer QA/QC will then be a key field team member, performing inspections, managing third‑party inspectors, tracking deficiencies, holding the field team accountable, documenting, and preparing QC‑related turnover documents.
- Work with the Engineering Team to develop job‑specific ITPs and quality Continuing a job‑specific ITPs and quality requirements based on applicable codes and specifications
- Inspect work based on ITPs and quality requirements
- Manage third‑party inspectors
- Witness and document tests by third‑party inspectors
- Accept or reject work based on field inspections and third‑party inspections
- Maintain hold points and ensure all inspections and documentation are completed before releasing the field team to continue work
- Track deficiencies and ensure all deficiencies are resolved in a timely manner
- Work closely with the field team to schedule work, address deficiencies, and resolve issues
- Inspect materials as they are received on the job site
- Spot‑check work by third‑party inspectors to ensure accuracy
- Prepare quality reports
- Prepare and submit all QA/QC turnover documents during project closeout
- Bachelor's degree or greater in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering is preferred) or Physical Sciences
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Should be familiar (or willing to gain familiarity) with ASME Sec. VIII, Sec. IX, B31.1, B31.3, API 620, 625, 650/653, 1104 Codes, ACI 376, IBC
- Strong understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining efficiency
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Design Phase (approx. 25%) – Main Office in Quincy, MA (remote may be considered)
- Execution Phase (approx. 75%) – Project Site in Gibbstown, NJ (through March 2026)
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide‑ranging climates and environments
- Ability to work at height (i.e., Manlifts)
- High level of physical fitness
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 90% of shift) on uneven, wet, or unstable surfaces, including barges, scaffolding, and construction platforms.
- Regular climbing of ladders and stairs to access equipment, structures, or confined spaces.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach to inspect hard‑to‑access work areas or equipment components.
- Ability to carry inspection tools, testing equipment, or documentation materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Visual acuity and hand dexterity are required to perform detailed inspections, record measurements, and use digital instruments or tablets.
- Comfortable working around loud noise, vibrations, and heavy equipment in outdoor marine environments.
- Regular exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, precipitation).
- Must be able to wear full PPE throughout shift, including hard hat, Type III PFD, safety harness, respirator (when required), and protective clothing.
