OVERVIEW:
Quincy's Coordinator of Career and Technical Education works under the supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent, and Senior Director of Curriculum to coordinate and supervise assigned career, technical, business, and consumer science programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates all technical, occupational, and career programs for Quincy Public Schools.

2.Works in collaboration with high school principals and CTE Department Chairs with regard to content, policies, regulations, and requirements of all Chapter 74 programs at both high schools.

3.In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent and the Senior Director of Curriculum, establishes annual short and long-range goals (Program Improvement Plan), which are both educationally sound and administratively feasible.

4.Directs and coordinates various task teams in the development of K-12 occupational, career, and technical education programs.

5.Works cooperatively with the Director of Human Resources and principals in maintaining qualified and competent CTE staff for such programs, including screening, interviews, hiring, and program assignments.

6.In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent and the Senior Director of Curriculum, manages various Federal, State, and Local grants, including Perkins Funds, Massachusetts Capital Skills Grant, and other career funding opportunities to enhance and enrich CTE Programs.

7.Facilitates and chairs various CTE Teams, including CTE, Safety, Admissions, and General and Program Advisory.

8.Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent, Senior Director of Curriculum and principals on appropriate professional development, training, and in-service programs.

9.Plans programs that interpret the objectives of technical, and career education of the Quincy Public Schools to parents and the community at large.

10.Serves as the Quincy Public Schools liaison and voting member of the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators Organization (MAVA).

11.Serves as the Quincy Public Schools liaison with Quincy's South Shore Workforce Board and manages the various extended day/year programs, including Extended Youth Works, Connecting Activities, Ladders 2 Success, and Summer Youth Works.

12.Facilities and manages Quincy Public Schools' CTE Liaisons at both high schools in their mission of promoting non-traditional careers, trades, labor unions, and military.

13.Develops and maintains connections with area colleges to design, develop, and maintain post-secondary initiatives, including Articulation Agreements, CTE Pathways, Dual Enrollment, Early College High School, etc.

14.Has joint responsibility with high school principals for planning and implementing programs and activities pertaining to career and technical education that are appropriate for participation by both technical students and families.

15.Manage and facilitate Quincy Public Schools Working Permits Process and Procedures at both high schools throughout the school/extended year.

16.Develops connections with community business partners and maintains a range of work-based experiences (internships, co-op placements, apprenticeships, mentorships, and employment opportunities, etc.) and assures all students have such experiences.

17.Through building principals, directs and coordinates the development of middle and high schools Business Education, Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology Education.

18.Assists and collaborates with district administrators with the planning, implementation, and reflections of Quincy's MyCAP Initiative.

19.Designs Career Education programs for elementary, middle, and high schools.

20.Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

REPORTS TO:

Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent, and the Senior Director of Curriculum

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Fifty-two weeks minus applicable holidays and vacation days. Annual salary range will be $137, and will be negotiated with the Superintendent of Schools.
