Med-Surg / Tele RN – Inpatient Surgical (3rd Floor) Accepts Local Clinicians Beds: 48 (two buildings) Ratios:
Days 1:4–6 | Nights 1:5–6 Support: LPNs, CNAs (may float to sitters), virtual admit/discharge nurses Model:
Primary care nursing (must be comfortable) Patient Population / Diagnoses:
Neuro & surgical patients including laminectomy, cervical fusion, LESI, ostomies, hernia repair, total joint replacements (hips/knees), fem-pop bypass, BKA/AKA, dialysis catheter insertions, sepsis, chronic pain, urgent OR cases. Dialysis located on unit. Requirements:
Minimum 1 year surgical experience Total joint experience required Strong knowledge of PCA pumps, Narcan, sepsis management, TPN/Lipids, narcotics Heparin drip titration (per protocol) BLS & NIHSS required Tele:
Tele monitor tech on unit RNs interpret own strips Monitor brand:
Draeger RT/Equipment: CPAP (home units), occasional BiPAP (stays on unit), possible Airvo; RT manages. Scheduling: 3×12s starting at 7a/7p Self-scheduling not guaranteed (discuss with leadership) Schedules posted 6 weeks out Every other weekend, holidays rotate with core staff No call or standby Floating:
Like units only; higher acuity = help role only Orientation: 1 unit-based 12-hr shift First day 12–14 hrs (orientation, modules, competencies) Scrubs:

Fast-paced, heavy patient load with 8–12 surgical admits per day plus frequent discharges.
