Description:
This is a 24-bed unit with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 3 to 4, depending on acuity.
The patient population includes individuals with dysrhythmias, cardiopulmonary issues, sepsis, high flow oxygen needs, and behavioral patients requiring IV drip medications.
An educator is available on the unit to work closely with staff.
Common medication drips include dopamine, levophed, cardizem, heparin, precedex, nitro, amio, dobutamine, and nicardipine.
Staff may need to work every other weekend.
High patient throughput is expected, as is common in stepdown units.
The charting system used is Allscripts - Sunrise.
Cancellation policy is three shifts per 13-week contract or two shifts per shorter contract.
