Advocates of guest experience who welcome, thank, and exceed guest service expectations by focusing on guest interaction, loyalty enrollment and store cleanliness. Advocates of both in-store and digital services and solutions who are knowledgeable about capabilities and features that drive adoption and ultimately guest loyalty. Empowered to make shopping quick and easy for guests at the checklanes, guest services, gift registry, pick-up and drive up while ensuring exceptional quality.

  • Promoting and engaging around various benefits, offerings and services

Typical Day
As a Guest Advocate, no two days are the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks
  • Engage with guests to help solve their specific needs when assistance is required
  • Inform guests about current promos, store activities and events
  • Be knowledgeable about tools, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area
  • Assist with Target Loyalty program benefits and sign-up as needed
  • Scan and bag items efficiently, accurately and in compliance with safety standards
  • Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining service and accuracy
  • Explain features and offerings within the Target App including Wallet
  • Know how to direct guests to Order Pick-Up, Drive Up, and online ordering; assist with enrollment and usage
  • Handle returns following policies; partner with leadership as needed
  • Maintain a clean, clutter-free work area; assist with stock during store hours
  • Demonstrate a culture of safety and compliance
  • Work in a safe manner; report hazards and correct where possible
  • Support guest services such as order pick up, Drive-Up orders and remains compliant with laws
  • All other duties based on business needs

Training and Skills
We offer training to learn what you need to know to be a Guest Advocate. From the start, you should have:

  • Effective communication and a welcoming attitude
  • Attention to detail and prioritization of tasks
  • Willingness to educate guests about products and services
  • Ability to operate handheld scanners and technology equipment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to stay focused and composed in a fast-paced environment

Basic Expectations
Additional basics we expect:

  • Accurately handle checkout operations and support cash office tasks as needed
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise safely; frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds
  • Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays); reliable attendance
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift
  • Work in varying temperatures and environments while performing duties (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout)
