Overview
Are you meticulous, curious, and passionate about heavy machinery? At Davie, you will participate in assembling strategic components that power the country’s largest ships. As a millwright, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, adjusting, and fastening mechanical components related to piping, ventilation, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), marine mechanics, and metal cabinetry systems. You will read plans and work orders, handle workshop assembly, perform pressure tests, adjust mechanical equipment, operate forklifts or trucks, and actively participate in the commissioning of systems aboard ships.
Responsibilities- Install, assemble, adjust, and fasten mechanical components related to piping, ventilation, HVAC, marine mechanics, and metal cabinetry systems.
- Read plans and work orders and perform workshop assembly.
- Conduct pressure tests and adjust mechanical equipment as required.
- Operate forklifts or trucks as part of daily duties.
- Participate in the commissioning of systems aboard ships.
- $33.41/hour for the first 1,000 hours, then a rate of $37.11/hour.
- Overtime paid at double time.
- Day: 4-day workweek, 10 hours per day
- Evening: 4-day workweek, 10 hours per day + $2.00/hour premium
- Weekend: 3-day workweek, 12 hours per day + $2.50/hour premium
- Frigate premium (military vessel): $1.25/hour regardless of shift

- DEP in Heavy Machinery, Marine Mechanics, or Plumbing-Heating (pipe fitting)
- Successful completion of the security clearance process required under the Federal Government Contract Security Program (minimum 5 years of continuous residence in Canada with no interruption longer than 6 consecutive months)
