Job Summary

Student - Animal Care - No experience necessary

As a Student in Animal Care for our Toxicology team in Sherbrook, you will be responsible for ensuring the welfare of the animals and the integrity of our pre‑clinical studies.

In this role, key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the cleanliness of the living environment of the animals according to the highest standards of welfare in the industry.
  • Assist the technicians in their daily tasks.
  • Handle animals.
  • Participate in the physical/social activities of the animals.
Key Elements

If you possess the following qualifications, we will train you in the rest:

  • Able to follow precise instructions.
  • Being able to work physically (lift up to 20 kg, walk, stand, stoop, etc.).
  • Understanding of written English.
  • Passionate about animals.
  • Being a student in Animal Health, Bioecology or related sciences is an asset. ATE internship possible.

Please note that upon being hired, you will have to undergo an annual tuberculosis test at the expense of the company.

Job specific information:
  • Location: 1580 Ida Métivier, Sherbrooke (Qc), J1E 0B5.
  • Transportation: Easily accessible using Sherbrooke’s public transit system. Free parking. Electric vehicle charging station.
  • Pay: $19.00 per hour
    • Weekend: $2.75;
    • Overtime:
      Time and a half;
    • Holidays:
      Double time;
  • Schedule: During summer (30 to 37.5 hours/week), possibility to stay after school to be discussed. Depending on the needs, you may have to do overtime.

About Safety Assessment

Charles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state‑of‑the‑art facilities and expert regulatory guidance.
