As Project Director in the Environment department, your work will include developing, coordinating and executing environmental studies, government approval applications and environmental site management projects. The projects will target the energy, mining and heavy industry sectors.
OverviewPosition:
Environmental Project Director (Regular full-time) in the Environment department. You will lead projects, coordinate teams of biologists and environmental technicians, manage budgets and schedules, and liaise with authorities and clients.
- Manage and lead all steps required to carry out projects
- Understand the scope of responsibilities and associated challenges
- Establish tasks, develop budgets and schedules
- Coordinate a team of biologists and environmental technicians
- Serve as liaison between the senior manager and team members; allocate resources; report on progress
- Develop work protocols and estimate time and costs
- Perform and coordinate field surveys, analyses and studies, sampling, report writing and client presentations
- Coordinate applications for government approvals and liaise with authorities
- Plan and manage meetings internally and with external stakeholders or contractors
- Monitor progress, assess performance and motivate team members
- Ensure deadlines and budgets are met; renegotiate when necessary
- Mediate conflicts among team members and subcontractors; notify supervisor as needed
- Produce documents (impact studies, surveys, inventories, reports, follow-ups) adapted to clients

- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of Québec’s Quality Environment Act and related regulatory framework
- At least 10 years of relevant experience
- Strong technical knowledge in water and natural environmental management, botany, ichthyology, agriculture, habitat restoration, environmental impact assessment, data collection and interpretation, and report writing
- Experience in environmental site monitoring
- Ability to understand ecological and social implications of projects
- Excellent communication skills in French (spoken and written)
- Advanced English to collaborate with BBA offices/clients outside Québec (frequency varies by project)
- Available for short-term assignments at client sites
- Asset:
Master’s degree in Biology, Environment or related field
