This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. The Operations Supervisor oversees the assignment of routes and/or equipment with the drivers, schedules all loading operations and product ordering. He also oversees the supply process and procurement, the maintenance plan and its monitoring, and health and safety related issues.

1- TRANSPORT AND DISTRIBUTION
  • Clients:
    Take orders from customers, handle requests and schedule deliveries.
  • Paperwork:
    Create bills of lading and other weekly documents for the drivers.
  • Reports:
    Update weekly production reports and provide all shipping documents to administration.
  • Daily operations:
    Considerate cost, safety, government regulation, collective agreements and company policies.
2- MAINTENANCE
  • Schedule and follow-up on the maintenance plan for the fleet according to required frequency.
  • Ensure the annual certification of tractors and trailers (PM, B620);
  • Daily verification of the physical and theoretical inventory (storage telemetry and customer inventory control).
3- PURCHASING
  • Oversee expenses related to the unionized staff (fuel & scale) and uniform supplier in compliance with costs already established under the purchasing policy.
  • Provide invoices to manager for his approval.
4- HEALTH AND SAFETY
  • Assist the operations manager for health and safety issues and participate to health and safety committees.
  • Support his manager in the application of regulations, policies and company guidelines for both operations and health and safety.
  • Make necessary recommendations and apply corrective measures.
  • Contribute to the health and safety of employees by ensuring compliance to safety policies, that equipment is in secure working order and that employees are wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
5- INVENTORY
  • Maintain sufficient quantities of product in tanks to respond to customer needs.
  • Order products for the plant or customers and ensure that delivery is made at the appropriate location.
  • Ensure that driver documents, pickup and delivery documents for supplier products are well maintained.
  • Calculate and maintain inventory at the end of each operation cycle.
6- OTHER DUTIES
  • Available (on occasion) evenings and weekends to order products outside of regular business hours.
  • Replace the Operations Manager during his absence or his vacation.
  • Plan his time according to priorities and/or due dates.
  • Perform any other task or responsibility requested by his manager.

ENGLISH WILL FOLLOW

  • A positive attitude, professionalism and integrity.
  • A College degree (preferable), in transportation logistics, and/ or any relevant combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a dispatcher or supervisor in transport.
  • Comfortable managing priorities, working under pressure and independently.
  • Client-focused, a great communicator, organized and analytical.
  • Software:
    Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Hold a Class 1 licence is an asset.
