Duties
Perform basic maintenance on buildings, infrastructure, and grounds (e.g., infrastructure upkeep and repairs, tree cutting, landscaping, mowing, etc.).

Intent of the process
This process could be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with different employee status, security level or language requirements, in this same location or elsewhere in the country.

Conditions of employment
  • Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance;
  • Hold and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence;
  • Be in good physical condition and successfully complete an annual physical fitness test consisting of walking 3.22 km while carrying 11.4 kg (25 lb) in a backpack in under 30 minutes.
Operational Requirements
  • Work outdoors in sometimes unfavorable weather conditions;
  • Agree to wear the Parks Canada uniform and the required protective equipment;
  • Be able to move around and perform work and inspections in a workshop and/or outdoors, in elevated and/or confined and/or hard‑to‑reach areas, and in all weather conditions;
  • Be willing to work irregular hours, shift work, overtime, and/or during weekends and federal/provincial/territorial holidays, as required;
  • Hold a Pleasure Craft Operator Card;
You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

EDUCATION
A high school diploma or a diploma in the forestry or wildlife field (DVS, DCS, or equivalent) or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience

EXPERIENCE
Experience in handling and maintaining various mechanical equipment, such as chainsaws, outboard motors, all‑terrain vehicles, etc.;

Recent experience (within the last 3 years) working in a forestry environment.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety principles;
  • Basic knowledge of planning and organizing maintenance or facility management work;
  • Basic knowledge of small engine mechanics/repair.

ABILITIES

  • Ability to use various electrical, mechanical, or motorized work tools (e.g., shovels, brush cutters, chainsaws, winches, motorboats, rowboats, all‑terrain vehicles, or other motorized vehicles, etc.);
  • Ability to perform maintenance and repairs on structures, facilities, and work equipment (e.g., trails, fences, culverts, buildings, campgrounds, shrubs, beaches, mechanical equipment, vehicles, etc.);
  • Ability to communicate verbally to convey clear and precise instructions/directions.
Language requirements (essential for the job)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (ASSETS)
  • Workplace First Aid Training;
  • CNESST training in manual tree felling and chainsaw sharpening;
  • ATV training from the Canada Safety Council;
  • Hold a Class 3 or Class 1 driver’s licence;
