Position Summary

What You’ll do as a Professional Mechanical Designer ITechnical Axis:
- Execute the Mechanical Engineering activities in the project, including initiation, coordination, synchronization and review.
- Prepare documentation and mechanical designs for technical reviews.
- Prepare design sketches and assist with developing design layouts, 3D models and drawings for a variety of components, sub-assemblies, processes, or equipment in support of projects.
- Lead mechanical designs (follow up, analysis, problem solving), verification and reporting.
- Interact with vendors, suppliers and consultants, on a limited basis, to assure compliance with requirements and specifications.
- Perform routine engineering investigations involving calculations and/or tests in support of current products, new designs, methods, materials, or process studies.
- Work as a collaborative team member in engineering projects.
- Work under general supervision with few direct instructions. Carry out routine and semi-routine tasks independently.
- Lead the mechanical technical reviews working within the project constraints of schedule, cost, performance, quality and reliability objectives.
- Has no direct reports.
- May lead technical staff (Technicians, Designers).
Skills and Abilities
Needed Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience required
- Working knowledge in a variety of materials, technologies and manufacturing methods is desirable. Examples include:
Metal, plastics, rubber, composites, welding, machining, forming, casting, molding. - Working knowledge in the following areas: thermodynamics, computation fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, etc.
- Basic knowledge / skills; 3D CAD Modeling (PRO/E preferred)
- Analyzes and solves technical problems.
- Seeks input from experienced individuals to improve quality of deliverables
- Self motivated
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Resourceful
- Exceptional team player
- Fluent in French, English language level:

This position requires knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties involved, including regular communications outside the province of Quebec, training, email communications, and frequent meetings and interactions with English- only employees.
