Job Description

Join IAMGOLD’s Exploration Team as a Exploration GIS Technician (One-Year Fixed-Term Contract). Are you passionate about geospatial technology, skilled in mapping and data analysis, and ready to contribute to exciting exploration projects across Quebec? IAMGOLD is looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a GIS Specialist on a one-year fixed-term contract.

The ideal candidate for this GIS Technician position should have 2+ years of experience. Work schedules will be tailored to meet the needs of the exploration programs and will take into account the candidate’s home base. The role requires frequent travel to various exploration sites across Quebec to support ongoing field activities.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be an integral part of IAMGOLD’s exploration initiatives, providing essential geospatial support for geological mapping, drill planning, and seasonal survey programs. Using GIS and remote sensing technologies, you’ll manage and maintain spatial databases, generate detailed maps and visualizations, and help integrate geophysical, geochemical, and topographic datasets to refine exploration targeting. You’ll work closely with geologists and technical teams to ensure accurate data collection across multiple projects.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you’ll need at least two years of related experience, a diploma or degree in GIS, Geomatics, or a related field, and a valid Quebec driver’s license. Experience with GIS software, GPS tools, and general computer applications is considered an asset. Experience in forestry or forest mapping is also considered an asset. Strong organizational skills, the ability to work in remote and seasonal conditions, and comfort with spatial analysis tools are essential.
