Job Description Overview
We are looking for an experienced engineer in process instrumentation and automation to join our multidisciplinary team. In this key role, you will act as the technical lead on large-scale projects, from requirements definition to commissioning. You will play a central role in developing robust and innovative solutions while providing technical guidance to project team members.
Your Role- Act as a technical reference on automation projects, collaborating with internal teams and clients.
- Participate in the design of control architecture (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and selection of instrumentation equipment.
- Prepare cable lists and contribute to DCS or PLC I/O lists.
- Update P&IDs and related instrumentation and control data.
- Attend client meetings to define instrumentation and control needs and installation requirements.
- Draft standard specifications for valves and instruments, technical datasheets, and evaluate technical submissions.
- Design and prepare plans and specifications for tendering.
- Contribute to developing standards for motor schematics and interconnections.
- Participate in creating functional descriptions.
- Supervise site work and factory acceptance tests (FAT), as well as commissioning.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior or intermediate engineers.
- Participate in technical reviews and deliverable audits.
- Maintain close client relationships and contribute to client satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Automated Production.
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in industrial, mining, agri-food, or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Knowledge of automation platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider).
- Familiarity with ISA standards, machine safety, and regulated environments.
- Strong communication skills, leadership, and collaborative mindset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Bilingual (French/English).
- Experience in project management or technical coordination.
- Knowledge of PLC and SCADA system programming.
