Job DescriptionAs a Senior Electrical Engineer you will actively lead and/or participate in the design of new and reconstruction of existing hydropower plants. You will design high‑power switchgears and control gears, prepare drawings, perform sizing calculations, select materials and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
Primary Responsibilities- Design electrical power systems and layout for hydropower plant projects.
- Develop power system diagrams and drawings for switch gear and control gear implementation.
- Prepare project deliverables such as detailed drawings, layouts, and diagrams.
- Perform or validate equipment sizing calculations and power cable gauge selection.
- Calculate material quantities.
- Coordinate electrical work with other engineering disciplines.
- University degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Member of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible to register.
- More than ten (10) years of experience.
- Knowledge of Hydro‑Québec standards or other public utility standards.
- Knowledge of power distribution design methods, practices, and tools.
- Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD.
- Fluent in French (oral and written).
- Fluent in English (oral and written) for national level communications.
- Knowledge of applicable design standards and codes, including the Quebec Electrical Code.
