Job Summary

As a Senior Structural / Geostructural / Underground Structures Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and supervision of complex geotechnical projects. You will contribute your technical expertise to develop innovative and safe solutions, particularly in the design of excavation supports and underground works (tunnels, shafts, and related works). You will also be responsible for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers.

The Role
  • Design and analyze geotechnical structures in soil or rock (retaining walls, support of excavation systems, underground structures).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design standards and guidelines (e.g., Eurocodes, CSA standards, ITA/AFTES guidelines, and applicable local regulations).
  • Perform advanced calculations in stability, soil-structure interaction, and numerical modeling.
  • Prepare drawings (“plans”), specifications, and technical reports that comply with standards and client requirements.
  • Supervise and validate the work of less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, cost estimates, and project planning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geotechnical, structural, environmental, transportation).
  • Provide guidance on construction methods, structural risk management, and material selection for shoring work.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs and propose optimal solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Post‑graduated in civil or structural engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in structural engineering involving soil or rock interaction.
  • Proven experience in the design of temporary and permanent excavation shoring, with soil‑rock/structure interaction (diaphragm walls, sheet piles, anchors, cast‑in‑place concrete, shotcrete, etc.).
  • Proficiency in specialized structural analysis software (RS2, RS3, PLAXIS, MIDAS, Geo Studio, Robot, SAP
    2000, or equivalent).
  • In‑depth knowledge of international and Canadian standards and applicable codes.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in French.
