Overview
The Joint Counterintelligence Training Activity (JCITA) is a Department of War joint training organization. JCITA serves as the DoW’s central authority for standardized counterintelligence (CI) training, education, and professional development across the military services, combatant commands, and select interagency partners. Its mission is to develop, deliver, and sustain joint CI training programs that prepare military, civilian, and contractor personnel to detect, deter, and defeat foreign intelligence threats targeting U.S. forces, operations, technologies, and national security interests.
JCITA designs and executes advanced, and specialized CI courses covering areas such as counterespionage, insider threat detection, CI collections and investigations, counterintelligence support to operations, offensive and defensive CI methodologies, cyber-enabled threats, and analytic tradecraft. The organization ensures training standardization across the joint force while integrates real-world threat intelligence into curriculum, and maintains alignment with DoW doctrine, policy, and operational priorities.
PositionSummary – Electronics and Communications Technician
The Electronics and Communications Technician provides technical expertise and operational support for communications systems and electronic equipment used in support of JCITA training programs. This position is responsible for researching, planning, and implementing technical communications solutions, including direction finding (DF)/microwave tracking systems and overt and covert video and photography capabilities, in accordance with all applicable federal laws and regulations.
The Electronics and Communications Technician installs, operates, maintains, and repairs radio communications systems supporting the entire JCITA fleet. The Technician ensures all communications equipment is fully operational and mission-ready during local and field training exercises, providing hands-on technical support to meet validated course requirements. This includes troubleshooting system malfunctions, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring reliable performance of all electronic and communications assets.
In addition to operational responsibilities, the Electronics and Communications Technician conducts research and provides technical equipment recommendations to enhance training effectiveness across all JCITA courses. The position requires the development of course materials and lesson plans related to the use of communications and electronic equipment, as well as direct instruction to students and staff on proper configuration, operation, and maintenance procedures.
Required Qualifications- The ideal candidate combines technical proficiency, regulatory compliance awareness, and instructional capability to ensure electronic and communications systems are effectively integrated into training environments while maintaining safety, legality, and mission alignment.
- Required TS/SCI with ability to obtain CI Poly.
- Required Experience: Expert: 10 years demonstrated experience related to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $142,792 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
