Home Hardlines/Clerk – Fred Meyer

Responsibilities
  • Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit targets and monitor all quality‑assurance standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, welcoming and engaging customers in the Home Hardlines department.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized department environment that encourages repeat visits.
  • Collaborate with associates to create a positive customer experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic math skills – counting, addition and subtraction.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Retail experience.
  • Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department; recommend items to customers and provide product samples.
  • Provide information about Home and Drug GM specials.
  • Review and manage “sell‑by” dates and produce labels, stock, and inventory merchandise.
  • Report product ordering, shipping discrepancies, and safety risks or incidents to management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment issues.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and stay current with seasonal and special promotions.
  • Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
