Responsibilities/Requirements
  • Internship trained-if not at least 2-3 years of ER experience
  • Primary case responsibility. This includes:
    Receiving incoming triage and referral cases
    • Determining primary client concerns and obtaining complete medical histories
    • Assessing patients and performing complete physical exams
    • Developing a problem list, differentials list, and treatment plan and clearly communicating that with clients
    • Communicate accurately and clearly with clients regarding estimated costs Complete accurate medical records on all animals seen
  • Communicate at least once per shift with clients who have animals hospitalized
  • Assist referring veterinarians with any case transfers or questions about possible case transfers
  • Accurately and concisely round patients to the oncoming doctor using the IPASS system
  • Report safety concerns, adverse events, and unanticipated patient outcomes promptly and accurately so they can be reviewed
  • Collaborate with other veterinarians in the practice to provide seamless care and an atmosphere of continuous learning
  • Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine
