American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a Level III Trauma Center, requiring a WA or compact state RN license and strong L&D skills.

Job Details

• Work in a Birth Center within a hospital setting designated as a Level III Trauma Center,

• Unit includes 9 LDR, 2 OB OR, 2 OB PACU, 11 Level II NICU, and a 20-bed Mother/Baby unit,

• Patient population includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, high and low-risk laboring patients, and substance abuse cases,

• Typical monthly volume is 175-200 deliveries,

• Follows AWHONN and NANN guidelines for patient ratios: 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active laboring,

• Position requires 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotation,

• No on-call responsibilities,

• Floating required only within areas of demonstrated competency and will not float to the START unit,

• EMR systems used:
Epic Stork and GE Centricity,

• Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems,

Job Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required,

• Minimum one year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience,

• Certifications required: BLS, NRP, fetal monitoring (AWHONN or Relia's module),

• Strong proficiency with cervical exams, antepartum and labor, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IVs, Pitocin administration, and postpartum care,

• Comfortable with couplet care and basic breastfeeding support,

• Experience with Pyxis and HUGS Security system required,

• Scrub experience is preferred but not mandatory,

Additional Information

• Responsible for care of laboring and postpartum patients, including high-risk and substance abuse cases,

• Support provided by surgical techs, phlebotomy, NICU, RT, and hospitalist teams, though no CNAs on the unit,

• Formal orientation includes two unit shifts covering vaginal delivery and C-section/triage care, plus annual core competency completion,

• Schedule is made in three-week increments with approval of time off required from manager,

• Must work one major and one minor holiday as scheduled,

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position,

• Postpartum and mother-baby transition care expected beyond immediate recovery period,
