Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III Trauma Emergency Department position requiring recent Epic use and strong ED skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a busy Emergency Department at a Level III Trauma Center

• Unit has 46 beds, including 5 safe psych rooms and a Fast Track area

• Treats diverse patient population including trauma, STEMI, stroke, mental health, sepsis, DKA, respiratory, and limited pediatrics

• Average of 200 patients per day with high acuity cases

• Nurse-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5, with flexibility based on acuity and staffing

• Shifts are 12 hours, mostly mids/nights (1500, 1900 start times)

• Schedule varies with coverage for 2 of 5 major holidays required

• No floating required

• Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris, Pyxis, and telemetry monitoring

• Support includes ER techs, charge nurse, resource/float nurse, RT, educator, 24/7 security, house supervisor, social work, and pharmacy

• Initial orientation includes NEO, Epic training (if needed), mental health area time, and precepted shift

• Professional attire: any scrub color permitted as long as professional; modest piercings and non-offensive tattoos allowed

• Free parking is available in designated areas

• Team-oriented, traveler-friendly unit with a fast-paced environment

• First-time travelers are accepted

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license in hand or proof of application

• Minimum 2 years recent Emergency Department RN experience

• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB certifications

• Recent, hands-on Epic charting experience is required

• Skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, drips, med administration, procedural sedation, blood and TNK administration

• Traveler telemetry competency exam must be completed and passed prior to start
