Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role at a Level III Trauma Center requiring a WA or compact RN license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities- Work in the Emergency Department of a 375-bed Level III Trauma Center
- Unit has 46 beds, including safe psych rooms and fast track areas
- Handles an average of 200 patients per day with a high geriatric population and some pediatric cases
- Patient types include trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, respiratory and mental health emergencies, and more
- Patient ratio is typically 1:4-5, flexing to 5 based on acuity and staffing
- No invasive neuro cases or craniotomies are performed
- Uses Epic for charting, Alaris and Pyxis equipment, and central/bedside telemetry monitoring at the nursing station
- No floating required
- 12-hour mid and night shifts; weekends and holiday coverage as required by unit needs
- Support provided by ER techs, charge nurse, resource/float nurse, respiratory therapist (24/7), ED educator, security, house supervisor, social work, and pharmacy
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation includes NEO, Epic training if needed, time in mental health and main ED, and a precepted shift
- Scrub colors are flexible as long as professional; modest piercings and non-offensive tattoos allowed
- Must be available to work 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NYE, New Year's Day)

- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, and ED medication administration
- Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, TNK administration (preferred), and cardiac medications
- Traveler telemetry competency must be completed and passed prior to start
