Position: Clinical Psychologist GS-0180-13

Overview

Clinical Psychologist GS-0180-13 at Defense Health Agency. The position is located at the Puyallup Community Medical Home, Puyallup, WA. It is a Direct Hire Solicitation for the Army Medical Home team. Responsibilities
  • Screen and interview patients, and conduct psychological and bio‑psychosocial evaluations.
  • Provide targeted assessment and definitive diagnosis per DSM‑5, focusing on functional status and the presenting problem.
  • Conduct psychometric assessments and formulate behavioral health interventions appropriate to a primary‑care setting.
  • Collaborate with Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and Behavioral Health Care Managers (BHCMs) to implement and monitor treatment plans.
  • Deliver timely documentation of care and recommendations to the PCM within 72 hours of patient encounter.
  • Provide focused follow‑ups, including relapse‑prevention education.
  • Triage and refer patients to specialty behavioral health when appropriate.
  • Use objective, measurable outcomes to evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust interventions.
  • Serve as a primary‑care team member to develop specific clinical pathways or best‑practice programs for targeted patient groups (e.g., acute stress, PTSD).
  • Offer ongoing consultation services for patients requiring continuous monitoring.
  • Develop, teach, and oversee classes that promote skill‑building to enhance psychological and physical health.
  • Meet BHC core competency criteria within 90 days of beginning patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

US citizen required. Doctoral Degree in clinical psychology (Ph.D. or equivalent). Current, active, unrestricted clinical license valid in the United States. One year of specialized experience that includes performing psychological evaluations, developing treatment plans, and delivering behavioral health interventions. Experience at the next lower grade level (GS‑12) will be considered equivalent.

Foreign education must be evaluated by a qualified private organization and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program, or full credit must be given for the courses at a U.S. accredited institution.
