About

the Program

The History Department is seeking a collaborative colleague to join a dynamic team of faculty who serve a diverse student population in US Survey, World Civilizations, and the Pacific Northwest History coursework. Both in and outside the classroom the department has been essential in supporting the College’s work in dismantling racial equity barriers. Outside the classroom you will often find the history faculty members developing and delivering programming in partnership with our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion – College Access, Retention, and Engagement Services (EDI CARES) and facilitating college‑wide communities of practice, such as “The History We Never Learned in School”.

To further build our history department we are seeking a North American historian who specializes in a historically minoritized people with special preference for scholars of Indigenous North American history.

Essential Functions
  • Designing and teaching a variety of courses in the department, specifically United States Survey, Pacific Northwest History, and World Civilizations courses, in a manner that promotes Black and Brown excellence.
  • Creating race‑conscious course assessments and evaluations, assessing data, and engaging in continuous improvement of courses based on that analysis in order to advance student achievement of outcomes, success in subsequent courses, and impact on retention, graduation, and successful transition to employment or further education.
  • Continuously innovating inclusive pedagogy and active learning experiences (campus, online, hybrid) in response to assessment and evidence/data analysis.
