We are seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) to support elementary-age students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The interpreter will facilitate communication between students, staff, and peers using American Sign Language to ensure full access to classroom instruction, academic content, and daily school activities.
ResponsibilitiesInterpret spoken language to ASL and ASL to spoken English
Support classroom instruction, school routines, and learning participation
Provide communication access in academic, social, and group settings
Maintain professional standards of educational interpreting
Collaborate with teachers and support staff
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all federal, state, and local requirements
Proficiency in American Sign Language
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field (preferred)
State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
EIPA certification (as required by state/client)
RID certification (as applicable)
CPR certification, if applicable
TB screening (if required)
Current health certificate (if required)
Must be at least 18 years of age
School SLI experience required
Preferred: EIPA 4.0 or NIC
